Cherry Baby Cribs
There are so many choices to make when it comes to choosing from the array of cherry
baby cribs available. At least you have chosen the colour and the material, which is a big
start. I will detail here some of the different types of baby cribs and their features that are available to
you. While each type has its advantages and disadvantages, please don't get overwhelmed. When you start
comparing the choices of cherry baby cribs available it is easy to start looking for a crib with all the
advantages and none of the disadvantages. While I know that you want the best possible option for your
precious little one it is simply not possible to have a crib with stationary sides that also drop down!! I
suppose, my advice to you is to think of your own situation and weigh up your individual needs and indeed
budget and choose the best crib for you and your baby.
The following are some of the crib types and crib features that you may come across as you
shop for your baby's crib:
Convertible Baby Cribs
Convertible baby cribs usually convert into a toddler bed and
sometimes into a full size adult bed. I love the idea of furniture that is multifunctional and that can last
through several phases of a child's development - they grow up so quickly! Sometimes you need to buy
additional parts for the conversion so you might check that out at the time of
purchase.
If you are planning to have a second child soon after your first child, it may make sense to choose
a non convertible crib and pass it on to your second child and then purchase a new bed for your first. As a
convertible crib will grow with your child, whether the first or the last, it is a good investment. You will
just need to consider your budgetary priorities, when making the decision.

The DaVinci Thompson 4 in 1 Convertible Crib above, has the following features:
 |
Converts to a toddler bed with a safety guard rail. |
 |
Converts to a day bed by removing the rail. |
 |
Converts to a full size adult bed (rails sold separately) |

Baby Crib with Stationary
Sides
These cribs have stationery sides that do not drop down. It means that you will lay your baby
into the crib "over the sides". If you are choosing a crib with stationary sides, you may consider one with
one side slightly lower than the other, to allow you to place your child in the crib with ease. However you
will find that most cribs are designed to allow a parent, lay their child down to sleep without
difficulty. Many come with adjustable mattress heights for your convenience. A number of people prefer
baby cribs with stationary sides as they believe that the less moving parts the safer they are and the
less likely they are to suffer "wear and tear" damage.
The Graco Victoria Non Drop Classic Cherry Crib is a beautiful example of a crib with
stationary sides. It is also a convertible style crib with the following features:
 |
JPMA,
ASTM & CPSC safety certified |
 |

and footboard |

Baby Crib with Single or Double Drop
Sides
Choosing a baby crib with single or double sides may allow you to lay your baby in
the crib in a more comfortable and convenient way. There are a number of different mechanisms available for
releasing the side of the crib that drops and I will bring you more information about these mechanisms in our
EZ Guides which are coming soon. There have been some concerns raised about the safety of cribs with drop
sides with some suggesting that they may be banned in the future.
